In October 2022 Airbnb launched the OMG! Fund for participants across the world. They chose 100 participants from 15 countries and 4 from South Africa , I was lucky enough to win one of only four grants in Africa to build the Earth house from natural materials on a farm in the North West. I took on the challenge with unskilled labourers to build a home out of natural and sustainable materials & a net-zero carbon footprint. I was the architect, contractor, project manager, budget manager and researcher on this project.
During 2023/2024 we started building the Earth House which included natural stone foundations, rammed earth walls and light weigh steel roof. I’ve also accumilated more than 500k views accross social media platforms where I showcase our building methods and showcase natural building.
